Un monde sans femme | A world without women
A world without women
It is estimated that it currently "misses" some 200 million women to ensure gender balance. For example, 1 out of 5 boys born in China today will not find a wife so girls are abducted in order to be married with the son of the family, while middle-aged parents brag about the marital markets the qualities of their unmarried male descendants. But the Middle Kingdom is not an isolated case. In India, South Korea and Vietnam, the same worrying trends are observed, leading to an increase in abductions, trafficking and sexual exploitation. How did we come to such extremes? And how to explain that despite many cries of alarm the number of "missing women" continues to grow? Investigation of a massive phenomenon whose repercussions still seem largely underestimated.
